U.S. citizen wanting to work in Europe

Eventually, when I earn my nursing degree in several years, I would love to work in Europe...on a contract basis.
Does anyone have any feedback please?
Can you discuss the difference between both countries healthcare systems? Does Europe have private AND socialized medicine? I realize they pay half of what Americans do , but $$ is not my priority.
I have family in Ireland and in Austria and my heart longs to be in Europe at times.
Hence I just have so much more respect for Europe's culture, values, beliefs , and lifestyle. To say the least.

It depends on where you want to work as a nurse.
I do not much know about the health system in U.S.A. but what I heared about is, that there is big difference from that in germany to yours in U.S.A.

Yes, we pay compared to you not much, but this is also a increasing problem for us:
in germany the service to the patients decrease, the number of hospitals are reducing. That means for us working nurses a much harder life compared to yours: because there is not much money in our system anymore, the number of working nurses on the service units are decreasing too, so we have to care a much higher number of patients now. ( between 4-5 patients to 1 nurse at intensive care to 12-20 patients to 1 nurse on a generelly service unit and 30-50 patients to 1 nurse at care homes)

What do you mean with private medicine?

Between the member states of the European Union there is a big difference of the health systems and with that differences of Nursery.

Es kommt darauf an, wo Du als Krankenpflegekraft arbeiteten willst. ich weiß nicht viel über das amerikanische Gesundheistsystem, nur das es einen großen Unterschied zu dem in Deutschland gibt.
Verglichen zu Euch, müssen wir weniger zahlen, aber das ist gleichzeitig ein immer größer werdendes Problem für uns:
Die Leistungen für Patienten werden gekürzt, die Zahl der Krankenhäuser gekürzt. Das bedeutet für uns Pflegekräfte immer härter werdendes Leben, weil auch immer weniger Geld ins System geht. Die Zahl der arbeitenden Pflegekräfte auf Station verringert sich ebenfalls, wir müssen uns um eine immr größere Zahl von Patienten kümmern. (zwischen 4-5 Patient Pro Pflegekraft auf Intensiv, 12-20/1 auf Normalstationen und 30-50/1 in Pflegeheimen.
Was meinst Du mit "privater Medizin"?

Innerhalb der Euopäischen Union gibt es starke Unterschiede der Gesundheitssysteme, und damit auch der Pflege.

It depends a lot of the country you want to work in.
Care and workload differ a LOT between states among the EC. In France we work on a 3-4:1 basis in ICU/CCU, 20-25:1 on general ward.
The work differs a lot too, in France A RN does quite a lot more than in Germany for instance.
Degree recognition and board registration differ too.
You'll get a better pay in France but integration might be more difficult .
If you move to Paris you'll be able to work at the American Hospital in Paris with your US degree. Otherwise, as in any EC country you'll have to go through the degree recognition process (you might have to work for free for some time)

Pflege und Arbeitverhältnissesind SEHR unterschiedlich innerhalb der EU. In Frankreich arbeiten wir auf einer 3-4:1 Basis in der Intensiv Pflegestation, 20-2:15 auf einer normalen Station.
Der Arbeit unterscheidet sich auch viel, in Frankreich macht ein Pfleger recht viel mehr als sein deutscher Kollege.
Diplom Annerkennung und Registrierung sind auch unterschiedlich.
In Frankreich wirst Du besser bezahlt aber die Integration kann sich schwieriger erweisen...
Falls Du nach paris kommst, kannst Du im Amerikanischen Krankenhaus mit deinem amerikanischem Diplom arbeiten. Sonst, wie in allen EU Staaten musst Du durch den Annerkennungsprozess gehen (Da kannst Du schon eni paar Monate gratis arbeiten).
